Worlds Beyond: The Thrill of Planetary Exploration, as Told by Experts by Alan Stern, With the development of space-travel, we have begun to explore worlds beyond Earth. Ten planetary scientists describe their favorite planet, what they have discovered, Planetary Exploration and what drives them to explore. Each tells a personal story, ranging across the breadth of the solar system--from hellish Mercury to the snows of Pluto; from telescopic to robotic exploration; from adventures in Antarctica to painting planetary landscapes; from the frustration of failure to the joy of success. Worlds Beyond is the third in a series of books bringing together leading space scientists to describe their work. Our Worlds was the first of its kind in revealing the inner motivations of planetary scientists. Our Universe explored the vastness of the Universe itself. Now, with Worlds Beyond, we return to our home--the solar system--to visit those fascinating new worlds beyond our own. S. Alan Stern is Director of the Department of Space Studies at Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado. He is a planetary scientist Planetary Exploration and astrophysicist with observational Planetary Exploration and theoretical interests. Stern is an avid pilot Planetary Exploration and a principal investigator in NASA's planetary research program, Planetary Exploration and he was selected to be a NASA space shuttle mission specialist finalist. He is the author of more than one hundred papers Planetary Exploration and popular articles. He is also the author of Pluto & Charon (Wiley, 1997).

Cosmic Butterflies: The Colorful Mysteries of Planetary Nebulae by Sun Kwok, Using more than 100 spectacular images from the Hubble Space Telescope, Cosmic Butterflies explores the beauty of the most mysterious celestial objects in space, planetary nebulae. The mystery begins at the end of the star's life, when it wraps itself in a cocoon by spilling out gas Planetary Exploration and dust. Sometime later, a butterfly-like nebula emerges from the cocoon Planetary Exploration and develops into a planetary nebula. These newly formed, effervescent structures are complemented by a kaleidoscope of colors emitted by glowing gases. Hovering in the gossamer of delicate streamers, the production of planetary nebula by a star is both its most momentous event Planetary Exploration and foretells its doom when its central energy runs out. In this extraordinary book, Sun Kwok, a leading international expert on planetary nebulae, details the discovery process of the creation of planetary nebulae Planetary Exploration and of the future of the Earth's Sun. Sun Kwok is Professor of Astronomy at the University of Calgary Planetary Exploration and a Canada Council Killam Fellow. His book The Origin Planetary Exploration and Evolution of Planetary Nebulae (Cambridge, 2000) is widely considered to be the definitive treatise on the subject. He serves as chairman of the Planetary Nebulae Working Group of the International Astronomical Union Planetary Exploration and has been a member of the Advisory Panel of the Institute of Astronomy Planetary Exploration and Astrophysics since 1993.

Although the details of the discovery and exploration of Darwin IV differ in the two presentations, both are essentially the same in their depiction of the planetary environment and its native lifeforms, whose abundance and variety prompt the name Darwin. Pioneer program - The US Pioneer program of unmanned space missions was designed for planetary exploration. There were a number of such missions in the program, but the most notable were Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11, which explored the outer planets and left the solar system.
